Vacation food is the best food. Make every meal count by selecting from our favorite local restaurants.
Our favorite breakfast place is Neighborhood Jam, but you also can’t go wrong with Hatch Early Mood Food. If you want to try a local coffee shop, the “moon milk” at Summer Moon Coffee is *swoon.* If you’re in OKC, make sure to grab a donut from Hurts Donut Company. You won’t regret it. Hankering for a waffle sandwich? Check out Waffle Champion in OKC.
Ted’s Café Escondido is the most popular Mexican restaurant in Edmond. If you want a more upscale experience, try Uncle Julio’s. They have a fruit-filled chocolate piñata…need I say more? If you’re in OKC, our favorite Mexican eatery is OSO Paseo. According to our kids, it has the best salsa in town. Choose outdoor seating if the weather permits.
Try All American Pizza or Cici’s Pizza for delivery or carry out after a long day of traveling. Want something more high end? Try Upper Crust Wood Fired Pizza. They refer to their pizzas as “pies,” but I try not to hold that against them.
We love Fish City Grill for both dine in and carry out. Our favorite menu items are the jalapeño soup, fish and chips, and Serafin’s fish tacos. My 9 year old considers himself a sushi expert and he recommends The Sushi Bar to satisfy your sushi craving.
Nhinja Sushi and Wok is a great place for some grab and go sushi. Tamashii Raman House is a must try for Japanese cuisine. Try the miso butter corn raman and the garlic fried rice. Our favorite Indian food comes from Cafe 47 International. The food takes a long time to prepare, so we usually call in our order and carry out. Try the trikon and chicken tikka masala.
Pub W (pronounced “Pub Dub”) has a fun atmosphere, excellent food and cocktails. If you’re smart, you’ll get the salmon pastor tacos. Go online to join the waitlist before you arrive. The Mule is another favorite. I love the Fancy Pants, but the Macaroni Pony is worth the heart attack. Both pubs are family friendly.
Roughtail Brewing Company isn’t too far from home and has a wide selection of beers. They also have board games you can play while you socialize. The food selection is minimal, but they frequently have a food truck in the parking lot. Bricktown Brewery is another great brewery in town. In addition to their craft beers, they serve a full food menu.
My favorite burger in town is the Fire burger (I never met a green chile burger I didn’t like) from S&B’s Burger Joint. The smothered fries are also a hit. We also frequent the Garage Burgers & Beer. There are arcade games, the food is great, and the kid’s meal comes with a bomb pop.
If ice cream is what you crave, look no further than Cities Ice Cream. My favorite concoction is the Great Salt Plains. You also won’t be disappointed if you satisfy your sweet tooth at the Railyard Pie Company. Alternatively, you can build your own ultimate ice cream sandwich at The Baked Bear.
Cafe 501 is my favorite lunch cafe which gets a little fancier at night. Their food options are healthy and delicious. There’s also a dessert case for when you want to share a sweet bite after your meal. Finally, if you’re craving a smoothie or açaî bowl, head to the Surf Bar. The outdoor seating by the fountain makes for a relaxing outdoor experience.
